MOHALI: Zirakpur and Kharar may face serious damage in case of an earthquake due to haphazard and uncontrolled construction, ignoring guidelines laid by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Moreover, experts claim the construction of high-rise buildings is not as per the National Building Code of India 2016 which make them prone to earthquake.
Recently, many under constriction buildings had collapsed, without any earthquake, in Zirakpur and Kharar, proving that there was some lapse in the construction and designing plan which brought down the building.
However, the Mohali Administration claims that they are fully prepared and equipped to face any such calamity caused by the earthquake. As per the metrological data, the highest magnitude earthquake which has stuck tri-city is of 4.7 at Richter
